Professor Chu Chia Ning is a distinguished scholar and a retired professor from the Department of Chinese at National Chengchi University (NCCU), where he made significant contributions to the field of Chinese linguistics and phonology over his long and illustrious career. Renowned for his expertise in Chinese phonetics, historical phonology, and linguistic theory, Professor Chu has been an influential figure both within Taiwan and on the international academic stage.
After his retirement from NCCU, Professor Chu continued to play an active role in the global academic community. He currently holds the position of visiting professor at the University of Wales, UK, a role he has maintained since 2021. He also serves as an Honorary Member of the Chinese Phonetics Society, and was appointed as the Chair of the Ministry of Education’s Committee on Chinese Character Phonetic Standards from 2021 to 2023. Further solidifying鞏固his influence, he is an Overseas Academic Committee Member of the Korean “National Language Education Society” and an Editorial Board Member for the SUSS Humanities Book Series at Singapore University of Social Sciences.
